Make 2009 the best of all time

Last time we talked about what you might do for mankind in 2009.
Today we’ll talk about your goals for the coming year.
In his column in our newspaper last week, Michael Aun asked:
Who, what, when, why and how will you achieve your goals?
Who do you need to help you achieve your goals?
What are your big goals? What action steps are required?
What do you specifically want and need to accomplish?
When do you want to accomplish them?
Where do you find these resources and how will you acquire them?
What good habits do you want to exchange for bad ones?
Why do you want to change them? Knowing why is critical.
How do you plan to change them? Is this reasonable?
Do you feel passionate about your goals? Are they challenging?
How high must you stretch to reach them?
Have I set realistic deadlines to accomplish them?
Always know why you want or need to do anything.
You must understand what motivates you.
An invitation: Our 17th annual Leadership Forum.

A New Year and a new challenge

Last time we talked about leaving your grandchildren a legacy.
Today we’ll talk about what else you might do for mankind.
Here are seven challenging thoughts for you as 2008 winds down.
These quotes come courtesy of Texas ad man Roy H. Williams.
"The only ones among you who will be really happy are those who
have sought and found how to serve." — Dr. Albert Schweitzer
"No one wants to hear what you believe. We’re watching. Show us."
— 19th Century novelist Ann Radcliffe
"The first duty of a human being is to find your real job and do it."
– 20th Century social reformer Charlotte Perkins Gilman
"You’re not obligated to win. You’re obligated to keep trying."
– Children’s Defense Fund founder Marian Wright Edelman
"Be ashamed to die until you have won some victory for humanity."
The great educator Horace Mann’s challenge to all of us.
"How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment
before starting to improve the world."
— Anne Frank wrote that while hiding from the Nazis.
"Talk is cheap. Small actions, relentless, committed actions
are the signature of people who change the world."
That one’s from Roy Williams, the Wizard of Ads himself.
Here’s my question: How will you change the world in 2009?
Here’s my challenge to you: What are you waiting for?
