Define your purpose

We’ve talked about why we need to find our life’s great purpose.
Now we need to talk about how we make that discovery.
Passion drives our purpose. Passion makes us think and act boldly.
What are you passionate about? Is it politics? Injustice? Hatred?
Is it your family? Your spouse? Your children?
Is it your community? Your business? Your career?
We were once passionate about making our business a success.
We were willing to make the sacrifice and pay the price.
We succeeded in business. Now we want to succeed elsewhere.
We are passionate about literacy and ending learning difficulties.
Over the next 10 years we will raise $200 million for that cause.
Here are four passion identifiers that will help you identify yours.
1. What purpose will give my life meaning?
That’s not an easy question. You may think about it for a long time.
Turn it over to your subconscious mind to work on and it will.
2. What will I do today to help me fulfill my purpose?
Big goals are achieved by baby steps. Decide on one and take it.
3. What changes must I make to fulfill my purpose?
The first change must be inside yourself. How must you change?
A change of heart will create a change of mind.
We decide with emotion and then rationalize our decisions.
4. What am I strongly motivated to accomplish today?
Do you already know what it is? Write it down.
Post in beside your computer or the bathroom mirror.
Repeat it to yourself every day. Let your words sink deep inside.

Why find your purpose in life?

Our Creator gave each of us a great purpose in life.
It’s up to us to figure it out and do something about it.
In "The Purpose-Driven Life", Rick Warren writes:
• Purpose will give your life greater meaning.
Without purpose, life has little meaning.
We would feel hopeless if we lived without purpose.
What great purpose will give your life meaning?
• Purpose will simplify your life.
You must learn when to say "yes" and when to say "no".
You can’t do everything you or others want you to do.
You have to make choices — often difficult choices.
Just ask, "Will this help me fulfill my purpose in life?"
• Purpose will sharpen your focus.
With a clear purpose, there is no need to change directions.
With a clear purpose, you know where you’re going.
Hold yourself accountable. If you don’t, no one else will.
• Purpose will motivate you.
Nothing will energize you like a clear purpose.
This is true joy, playwright George Bernard Shaw wrote.
"Being used for a purpose you recognize as a mighty one."
• Purpose will help you prepare for eternity.
Our life here on earth is only a dress rehearsal.
That means we should make the most of life.
Most of us will have 70 or more years in this life.
While we are here, we should prepare for eternal life.
